About our dog training services

Mandatory private evaluation

1 hour – 2 hours | Temperament testing and reinforcement

Due to our nature in dealing with severe agression cases and behaviour modifications, we always start everybody off with a mandatory private evaluation, where we will to the home environment of the dog anywhere in Auckland. This private evaluation will last around 1 hour to 2 hours is to ensure that we can access the dog in its own natural environment as well as help the owner/handler adjust the environment, if needed, to help with any issues the dog is having.

During the first mandatory private evaluation, we will be conducting a temperament test to access what behaviours the dog has, whether they will be comfortable in group situations, how aggressive they are towards humans and other dogs as well as how well they handle stressful situations. During this time, we will also be teaching the owner/handler basic reinforcement with the dog so that they will be prepared for when they start the basic obedience course.

For severe agression cases, it is possible that we will recommend that the handler and dog will need more than one private evaluation to help get ontop of the agression issue. This is for the saftey of all handlers and dogs that are involved within the basic obedience classes.

In other cases, we are happy to accommodate anyone who is only able to do privates with us, or has a problem dog that needs a special hands on private approach, and more one on one attention.

Basic 6 week obedience dog training course

Sundays 10 am for 1 ½ hours to 2 hours regardless of the weather

Our basic obedience dog training is currently held in Manukau City, Auckland at 10 am on Sundays and runs every week regardless of the weather and lighting. The grounds that we are using have a covered parking area that has great lighting.

The goal for the basic obedience dog training is to start building or building upon the bond, control, respect, loyalty and trust between handler and their dog. Basics are always in a group environment, this is why it is important to book a mandatory private evaluation. During the 6 week basic course, we cover sitting, downing, sit and stay, down and stay, healing and lastly come where the handler will recall their dog. Basic obedience dog training is in an environment full of distractions and other dogs. This includes socialisation with other handlers and dogs , where handlers will be working side by side to reach the same goal, producing a calm, compliant companion in all situations.

After each class, the handler will be given homework, where the handler will need to practise routines that were demonstrated during the class for no more or no less than 10 minutes a day. After the 10 minutes of routines, it is highly recommended that the handler plays with their dog.

Advanced 6 Week Obedience course

Sundays 3:30pm for 1 ½ to 2 hours - Weather dependant

Please take into consideration that travelling around Auckland and completion of the basic 6 week obedience dog training course is required for this course

Our advanced obedience dog training is held all around the Auckland region at different parks and schools specially hand picked to build upon the basic obedience as well as building and improving on both the handler and dog's confidence. Due to the nature of the advanced obedience, we need to take into consideration the weather for the safety of both handler and their dog. If the weather is bad, and training is not on, handlers will be notified by text message. Alternatively feel free to text or email the dog man and he will let you know in a timely manner.

The course consists of confidence courses, starting on-leash, and gradually moving into an advanced level of control and obstacle courses off leash. The advanced obedience dog training course teaches and builds upon the handler’s and their dogs bond together and to have control and trust. Ultimately, this will maintain both the handler’s and dog’s learning ability and help keep their dog stimulated and even keep the dog’s fitness maintained in your everyday life.

Travelling is required when attending the advanced obedience dog training course, as we go to multiple locations around Auckland. These locations include:

  • Onehunga
  • Mt Roskill
  • Three Kings
  • Massey

All advanced obedience dog training starts at 3:30pm on Sunday afternoons and commences for up to 2 hours.
